Five questions. Five pieces of work.

Each service answers one commercial question about Taiwan with a defined output. Most engagements run two or three in sequence; some need only one.

01 · Entry assessment

Is Taiwan a market for us, a supply base, or both?

Taiwan is two opportunities wearing one name. It is a wealthy domestic market of 23 million people who pay for imported food, drink and design, and it is the densest hardware supply chain on earth. Companies arrive wanting one and discover the other. We establish which of the two you are actually in — and whether you need a Taiwanese entity at all, or an importer of record and a distributor will carry you further for less.

Discuss this briefStage: Orientation

What you receive

  • A read on Taiwan as a sales market, a sourcing base, or both
  • Entry-mode comparison: distributor, agent, branch, subsidiary or representative office
  • What each mode costs you in tax, control and time to first revenue
  • A written go / wait / no, with the reasons

Usually followed by

Demand validation, or straight to partner search where the channel is already obvious.

02 · Demand validation

How do we know Taiwanese buyers will pay for this?

We put your proposition in front of the buyers, specifiers, procurement managers and channel partners who matter — in Mandarin, in person, in Taipei, Hsinchu and Taichung. We report what they said: the price they expect, the incumbent they would have to drop, and the reason they gave for hesitating. Taiwanese buyers are polite about products they will never purchase; the job is to hear the no inside the yes.

Discuss this briefStage: Discovery

What you receive

  • Interview programme with named buyer and specifier segments
  • Positioning and price read, segment by segment
  • The competitive picture as Taiwanese buyers describe it
  • Go / no-go recommendation with verbatim evidence

Usually followed by

Partner search, or a direct route-to-market plan if the channel is short.

03 · Distributor & partner search

How do we find a Taiwanese distributor who will actually sell us?

Most Taiwanese firms are family-owned SMEs, often specialised and often trading and manufacturing at once. Access runs through introductions and repeat visits, not cold outreach. A distributor list is research; a qualified partner is one whose sales team, existing lines, financial position and succession plan we have examined — and who wants your product for reasons that will still hold in year two. We meet them before you do.

Discuss this briefStage: Qualification

What you receive

  • Landscape of importers, agents (代理商) and distributors in your category
  • Qualification against agreed commercial criteria, including who they already carry
  • Shortlist with management meetings attended in Mandarin
  • Negotiation brief: territory, targets, exclusivity, and who holds the registration

Usually followed by

Compliance and registration, so the first shipment has somewhere legal to land.

04 · Compliance & registration

What has to be registered before we can sell?

Taiwan admits products through specific gates, and each has an owner. Electrical and electronic goods need a BSMI Commodity Inspection Mark. Food needs an importer of record to file inspection at the port, Chinese labelling, and in some categories a TFDA permit. Your trademark should be filed with TIPO in your own name before partner conversations start, not after. We sequence these so that no single partner ends up holding the keys to your market.

Discuss this briefStage: Admission

What you receive

  • Regulatory route by product: BSMI scheme, TFDA registration, NCC where applicable
  • Chinese labelling and documentation review before artwork is printed
  • Trademark and registration ownership mapped — held by you, not your distributor
  • A realistic calendar, with the lead items named

Usually followed by

Business development, once the product can lawfully be sold.

How do we turn introductions into orders?

Introductions are not pipeline. We act as your commercial presence in Taiwan: prioritising accounts, attending meetings, following up in Mandarin, supporting your distributor’s sales team, working the trade-show calendar that actually matters in your category — and telling you honestly which opportunities are real.

Discuss this briefStage: Execution

What you receive

  • Account prioritisation and a named-account plan
  • Local representation at meetings, with follow-up in Mandarin
  • Distributor enablement, joint calls and trade-show support
  • Fortnightly pipeline review with a clear status per account

Usually followed by

Local operations, or a decision on a Taiwanese entity informed by real operating data.
